Weinsteins Buy Martial Arts Movie Rights

The Weinsteins (Bob and Harvey) are reported to have bought the rights to five martial arts novels; the series which encompass Crouching Tiger. The series is called Crane - Iron Pentalogy and is five martial arts novels by Wang Du Lu, says trade paper Hollywood Reporter. The books follow several generations of a fighting family during the Qing dynasty.

It is reported that a stage version of Crouching Tiger is being planned along with a series of films adapted from the other novels. Apparantly, there are no plans to remake the Oscar winning Crouching Tiger as a film
